God is Faithful. God is Good.
From the time I said yes to God and became a Christian, I have been experiencing God’s goodness and faithfulness. Many times, in my journey since, I have had to ask forgiveness for my disobedience. Even still, God is faithful. God is good. Regardless of my present circumstances, God keeps reminding me that my life is a living testimony filled with stories of His grace and faithfulness.
While living in Colorado and attending Nazarene Bible College, our cupboards had gotten empty. We prayed about it, and God sent snow. I thought: “Really? How does that help?” Bret, my husband, received a call in the middle of the night to go out and help clear snow on commercial properties. As a result of that snow, he was hired permanently, and our cupboards were no longer empty. God is faithful. God is good.
The day before my dad passed away was a Sunday. We were fairly certain the next day would be my dad’s last day with us since he was on life support from a massive stroke. Even though my dad was a Christian, I remember asking God for assurance that dad would be living in eternity with Him. Almost instantly, I had a picture of my dad singing and dancing on his hospital bed.
To this day, I can still see it. God is faithful. God is good.
God has been there not only in the difficult times but also in the good times—He gives us the desires of our hearts. In the first pastorate where my husband and I served, God provided a way for me to have a horse. That was a huge desire of my heart that ended up being a tool for ministry.
Like the stories above, I could share countless examples of God’s faithfulness and goodness in my life. But the greatest sign of His faithfulness and goodness was when I confessed my sins, and He was faithful and just to forgive my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). But He didn’t stop there. He shows His goodness in that He didn’t just save me from my sins, but He cares enough to transform me. As Romans 12:2 (ESV) says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” He is transforming me daily. Sometimes His transformation is obvious, and other times it’s obvious I have a lot that still needs His touch. Regardless, God is good all the time.
My testimony can be summed up as this: God was faithful. God was good. God is faithful. God is good. God will be faithful. God will be good.
