Victory

Victory should ever be our watchword, and not our watchword only; but it should be the very essence of our lives. We owe it to God, we owe it to ourselves, and to our fellow men that we have the victory.

There is but little joy or satisfaction in an experience where doubt and carnal fear trouble the soul. But if we step out on the promises of God, not only having present victory over sin, but confidence in His keeping power, we please God, and our faith also brings blessed rest and assurance to our own souls.

But what has impressed me more of late is how much we owe it to our fellow men that we have the victory. Victory is dear to every human heart and the shout of victory turns many a longing, defeated soul to our Christ.

The messages that are bringing souls to God these days are the messages of victory. The testimony of "Victory through the blood," the glowing, triumphant faces ablaze with the power of the Holy Ghost, the victorious lives, and the confidence and power manifested in the people of God are the attractions which make hearts to hunger and to hope.

Then let us have the victory. It is our privilege, and our Father waits to give it. We can so walk in the light of the Holy Ghost as never to cast a shadow, but like the disciples at Corinth, we can be living epistles known and read of all men, a sinner's Bible pointing them to God.
