Kitty Voges: Sketches

Kitty Voges has spent 22 years as personal secretary to the Africa Regional Director, and also manages the Africa Regional Office. She is married to Peet Voges, the World Mission Communications coordinator for that region. The Voges have three grown sons.

Q. Where were you born and raised?

A. Florida, Johannesburg, where we still live.

Q. What has been the best part about raising three boys?

A. I felt blessed for the privilege of raising boys; boys are uncomplicated. Needless to say, I am a proud mother, and I feel protected by them.

Q. What are people surprised to learn about you?

A. That I am not a good cook!

Q. Describe your most memorable destination?

A. Wellington, Cape Town, where we studied the life of Andrew Murray.

Q. Name a character trait that you admire in others?

A. Sincerity.

Q. List a character trait you appreciate in yourself?

A. Conformity.

Q. What phrase do you overuse?

A. "Really?"

Q. Name the person you most admire.

A. My mother. She is the most humble, unselfish, and caring person I know.

Q. How do you want to be remembered?

A. I endeavor to follow my mother's example.

Q. Where do you feel most comfortable?

A. At home.

Q. What is your favorite Bible passage?

A. Isaiah 43:1-3

Q. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

A. I would not change anything. Both the good and the bad experiences have helped to shape my character.

Q. Do you have a personal motto?

A. Do what you can do today. Tomorrow has new responsibilities and more pressures.

Q. What is your most enjoyable free-time activity?

A. I enjoy a walk in any nature/botanical garden or park.

Q. Explain the best advice you have received?

A. "Do not be judgmental—you do not always know the circumstances surrounding a decision or a situation." This was advice given by my eldest sister in my beginning years as a Christian.
